The Kalahari Region

Kalahari Collective works alongside these communities — equpipping entrepreneurs, families, and youth with the skills, health, and confidence to thrive in the economy the region is building next.

The Kalahari Region spans much of southern Africa. The village of Karakubis is located in the Western Kalahari of Botswana — a country with a proud history of economic achievement. For decades, diamonds and government investment drove one of Africa's most stable and fastest growing economies, lifting many out of poverty and building a strong foundation of public services. That foundation is now evolving. In recent years, global diamond demand has softened and government revenues have declined, prompting a deliberate shift in public spending. The government remains deeply committed to its citizens — and is actively diversifying the economy, reshaping how it delivers opportunity, and investing in new sectors and skilled workers to carry the country forward. What communities need now are partners and stakeholders who can bridge the gap between a shifting economy and the talent waiting to fill it.
